Natural Dye Garment Care instructions
Here are some tips for caring for naturally dyed Garment.
-
Wash less: Wash naturally dyed clothing as little as possible.
-
Wash gently: Hand wash if possible, or use a delicate cycle in the washing machine.
-
Use a mild detergent: Use a pH-neutral, low-ph, or mild liquid detergent. Dissolve the soap in cold water before adding the fabric. Avoid fabric softener, which can leave a residue.
-
Dry out of direct sunlight: Sunlight can fade natural dyes, so line dry in the shade.
-
Avoid bleach: Don't use bleach on naturally dyed fabrics.
-
Treat stains quickly: If a stain occurs, act as quickly as possible to prevent the pigments from settling. Add water and soak the fabric. You can also try pouring hot water through the fabric like a sieve.
-
Be careful with acids: Natural dyes react to acid, so be careful when handling citrus or citrus juices.
- Expect fading: Natural dyes will fade and shift over time. This is normal and to be expected.
